Saudi Arabia, Pakistan sign strategic defense pact

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan on Wednesday signed a joint strategic defense agreement during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Riyadh.
Sharif met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and signed the Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement that reaffirms the deep ties between Islamabad and the Kingdom.
“The agreement states that any aggression against either country shall be considered an aggression against both,” according to a copy of the deal.
“This agreement, which reflects the shared commitment of both nations to enhance their security and to achieving security and peace in the region and the world, aims to develop aspects of defense cooperation between the two countries and strengthen joint deterrence against any aggression,” the deal said.
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have enjoyed a close relationship for almost eight decades.
